Faith Ben-Daniels, PhD, is an Associate Professor of African and World Literature in the Department of Languages Education at the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED), Ghana. She currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Education and Communication Sciences at USTED.
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts with English from the University of Ghana, her MPhil and PhD in English (Literature) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and a Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba.
Research and Academic Interests
Her research interests include traditional storytelling practices from across the world, children’s literature, supernatural discussions in literature, African speculative fiction, multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural research in literature, psychology and sociology, migration literature, food literature, theatre development in Africa, African womanism, teaching literature, and world literature.
Editorial and Convening Roles
Professor Ben-Daniels is Editor-in-chief of Steadfast Arts and Humanities Journal, hosted from Nairobi, Kenya. She is also Editor for the African Teen Authors Book Initiative (ATABI), an annual collection of teen stories and experiences published by Kwazithina Publishers in South Africa.
She convenes the annual International Conference on Education and Humanities, as well as the Asante Studies International Conference.
Creative Work
Her fiction includes the novels A Quarter Past Midnight, Mimosa, Gray Skies, and Of Dreams and Blue Ixoras. She also has the short story Blue Ixora and illustrated children’s stories, including Yaa Sika and Kwame and the Magic Tree.
